A Time For Choosing

Our Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Sullivan hopes that before Conservative MPs cast their ballot for who should potentially become our nation’s next Prime Minister, that they have put the candidate they are going to vote for through the 3am test.

Before Conservative MPs vote later this afternoon and cast their ballot for who should potentially become our nation’s next Prime Minister, they ought to reflect on the great responsibility their voters have entrusted them with.

Before settling upon a candidate, they should consider the following scenario:

It’s 3am and their loved ones are safe and asleep but there is a phone in No. 10 Downing Street and it’s ringing. Something is happening in the world. Their vote will help decide who answers that call; whether it’s someone who already knows the world’s leaders, knows the cost of conflict; someone tested and ready to lead in an uncertain world. It’s 3am and their loved ones are safe and asleep; who do they want answering that phone?

If the candidate they were initially inclined to vote for causes a Conservative MP to pause for just a second, just a millisecond; then that Parliamentarian will know, in their hearts, they were just about to make a very big mistake.

My appeal to those Conservative MPs faced with choosing the man who could potentially be our great nation’s next Prime Minister, is urgent but simple:

This time, vote like your whole world depended on it.
