Dean Russel joined the Parliament Street Technology Forum upon its inception in 2016. Dean Russell is also the founder and CEO of epifny consulting (http://epifny.website), the digital transformation strategy consultancy.
A former physicist, Dean has held senior strategy roles for over 17 years at some of the most successful global digital and communications agencies. Dean was a Parliamentary Candidate in the 2015 UK General Election and is currently a Fellow of the RSA and Volunteer Champion for the Media Trust. Dean has been a regular commentator on the impact of digital in society and across business. This included 5 years as a columnist for Third Sector magazine and contributing articles for the Health Service Journal and Times Higher Education Supplement. Dean was a District Councillor up until 2014, where he successfully reformed and launched a new Health & Wellbeing Partnership focussed upon collaboration with NHS professionals, patients and charity groups.
Dean has a passion for charities, education and health. Which led him to co-authoring several professional reports into these sectors. This included delivering strategic consultancy for the Department of Health, reviewing the entire NHS website landscape – the findings were later revealed in the Health Service Journal and in The Guardian newspaper.
Dean has been a judge for several awards including seven years judging the British Association Screen Entertainment (BASE) Awards. Formerly Dean was a special advisor to the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA), Vice Chair of the NHS Healthspace Patient Reference Panel and member of NHS Clinical Reference Panel. Outside of politics and business, Dean is also a portrait artist and children’s book author with four books published to date.
