Monday 29th September 2014 – The Future of International Aid with the Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP

On Monday 29th Septembandrew-mitcheller, Parliament Street held a Conservative Party Conference fringe event with the Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP, former Secretary of State for International Development.

The event took place between 5.30-7pm in Room 7 of the ICC in Birmingham with just over 40 people in attendance.

Andrew spoke for about half an hour about all he had learnt in his time covering the International Development brief and his passion for helping the less fortunate shone through throughout his speech.

For the rest of the event he was interviewed by Parliament Street’s Head of Research, Clare Hilley who had spent time in Sierra Leone with Andrew as part of Project Umubano.

They discussed the project, which Andrew regarded as one of his proudest achievements and discussed how what they had seen had effected them.

Andrew stressed to the audience that the Conservative Party should not lose sight of the commitments that it had made in regards to International Aid.

We would like to thank Andrew Mitchell for an insightful talk that moved his entire audience and left them with plenty of food for thought.
