Wednesday 24th January 2014 – HS2 Debate between Steve Norris and Christian Wolmar

On Wednesday 24th January 2014 in Committee Room 20 of the House of Commons, Parliament Street held a debate on the HS2 Railway.

Debating on behalf of HS2 was Steve Norris, former Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party and former Minister for London Transport.

Debating against HS2 was Christian Wolmar – leading transport commentator and journalist who was named Transport Journalist of the year in the National Transport Awards 2007.

The debate was chaired by Parliament Street Chief Executive, Patrick Sullivan.

The topic of the debate was “Is HS2, a waste of public money or a necessary investment in national infrastructure?”

The debate proved so popular that Robert Goodwill MP, Minister of State for Transport with responsibility for HS2 was even in the audience.
